This rural house sits at the edge of pasture and woods and draws its simple forms from the utilitarian nature of nearby agricultural buildings. At the end of a long, curving drive, the L-shaped house defines an entry court within the pasture. A covered walk marks the entry and continues through the house and extends beyond as a wood pier, which pushes into the woods and overlooks the stream below. The house is anchored by a two-story screened porch and deck with a masonry fireplace, providing a focus for outdoor family life.
