PULLEN MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH

Raleigh, NC | Photography by Mark Herboth

When Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, a socially and politically active congregation, decided to improve its Raleigh, NC facilities, there were questions of purpose and place. Could the new design visibly express the church’s ambitious missions and community outreach? Could they successfully nurture community while necessarily conserving scarce resources? The resulting 10,000-square-foot expansion includes a detached chapel, an enlarged and accessible fellowship hall, and dedicated nonprofit workspaces, all conditioned by a geothermal mechanical system.
